valley. The Stoney Creek Inn offers excellent conference facilities,
along with warm and cozy Northwood's decor...natural stone,
cedar, real log walls, and a fireplace in the lobby!
The two day conference will include keynote speaker Michelynn
McKnight, an Anniversary/business lunch, interactive forums,
CE courses, a special reception, GMR update, new information
on WISCAT and Badgerlink, board and consortia meetings, and
lots of networking with colleagues.
Much more has also been planned to add to your experience.
Hope you will be able to join us in Wausau!

Celebrating
Your Worth
Speaker: Michelynn Mcknight, AHIP |
Michelynn McKnight, AHIP
As we celebrate 25 years of WHSLA, Michelynn McKnight will help
us identify the strengths derived from our professional associations,
both formal and informal. She will challenge us to build on
our history for a winning future. As she wrote when running
for election to the MLA Board, Together, we have so much
experience and expertise to share. Together, we can promote
our profession more than we can alone. Together, we can influence
librarian and non-librarian policy makers for the sake of our
clients.
As Director of the Health Sciences Library, Norman Regional
Hospital, Norman, OK, Michelynn McKnight knows the challenges
of our profession. In her sixteen years as a community hospital
librarian, she has survived a dozen corporate reorganizations
and consistently improved and expanded services. In addition,
she is a doctoral student, University of North Texas, where
her dissertation research is an ethnographic study of nurses
information seeking behavior. She is also a Visiting Lecturer,
Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University
of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an adjunct instructor,
School of Library and Information Studies, University of Oklahoma.
Her numerous professional achievements include serving as the
current Chair of the Hospital Libraries section of the Medical
Library Association (MLA), election to the MLA Board of Directors,
and serving as President of the Oklahoma Health Sciences Library
Association. Her publications list is extensive, and she is
a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information
Professionals.

* Proving Your Worth : Professional, Business, and Political
Tools
Does your CEO perceive the librarys value as somewhere
between the fountain in the lobby and the doughnuts in the doctors
lounge? Learn to use legitimate business, political, and professional
tools to show the impact of your essential services. Take home
practical ideas and strategies you can use immediately. This
4 hour course focuses on promoting the value of library services
to administrators, decision-makers, and users.
Instructor: Michelynn McKnight, Director of the Health Sciences
Library, Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, OK
* Website Usability : Making Your Content Accessible
Usability rules the web. If a patron cant navigate your
website, then he or she will not use your library to find information.
The rest of the Internet is only a mouse click away. Participants
in this four hour workshop will learn how to conduct usability
studies without expensive consultants, how to create accessible
web pages, and how to apply design simplicity to their websites.
Workshop topics include integration of diverse resources, library
websites as components of institutional websites, and Internet
vs. Intranet design.

Coordinator for the Greater Midwest Region, NN/LM
