Instructors: Ruth Holst and Jacqueline Leskovec, Greater Midwest Region
Library users and stakeholders will recognize and value the importance of their library's services and of the librarian to the organization. The outcome for the class is that librarians will be able to show the value of their library's services. Participants will become familiar with an evaluation process and will use and take away methods and tools for assessment, evaluation planning, creating logic models, data collection, data analysis and reporting.

9:00 AM-12:00 PM
CE: Prescription for Success: Consumer Health Information on the Web (3 MLA CEs)
Cost: $30.00
Instructor: Tammy Mays, Greater Midwest Region
(Note: Held at the Medical College of Wisconsin; transportation provided. If you'd like to provide your own transportation, parking must be arranged in advance. Registrants for this course will be contacted regarding parking arrangements.)
A hands-on introduction to consumer health information covering information-seeking behaviors of consumers, the basics of MedlinePlus.gov, DIRLINE, ClinicalTrials.gov and reliable web pages from professional medical associations and advocacy groups. It will cover sites devoted to pharmaceutical information, drug-interaction databases and herbal information.

1:00 PM-5:00 PM
CE: Gaining Leadership Skills Without Formally Supervising People (4 MLA CEs)
Cost: $60.00
Instructor: Natalie Reed, Midwestern University Library
Each participant will identify leadership skills s/he wants to develop, and then identify non-supervisory leadership opportunities which exist within their own circles of influence. A task force of the Leadership and Management Section of the Medical Library Association has identified experience and qualification expectations that current upper library managers hold. These are somewhat different from beliefs about skills that the applicant pool holds. Participants will use in-class discussion and worksheets to create a personal action plan and timeline to obtain leadership experience they desire.
